Taking A Swing At Cancer
Working Towards a Brighter Future for Our Community and Cancer Outcomes

Who We Are
The Merissa L. Frye Small Cell Cervical Cancer Memorial Foundation (MLF Foundation) was founded in early 2018 in memory of Merissa L. Frye, the daughter, cousin, and friend of the foundation’s board members. Merissa passed in January 2018 at the young age of 28 years old from a very rare form of cervical cancer. This gave the foundation’s members the spark to relentlessly continue the fight that Merissa battled all the way.

The foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with any funds generated being donated in a multitude of ways with all proceeds remaining local to the area. In the past 5 years, the foundation organized charity golf events with a host of raffles, as well as a bowling event, earning over $60,000 in donations!

Proceeds from our events are provided to:
-
The Macungie Ambulance Corps Merissa Frye First Responders Training Fund
-
St. Luke’s University Health Network - The Merissa L. Frye Cancer Research and Compassion Fund
-
The first priority of the fund is to support clinical trials at St Luke’s related to women’s cancer.
-
The fund’s second priority is to assist women impacted by these cancers by providing monetary support to patients for essential purchases and bills which are not covered by insurance and are necessary while undergoing treatment.
-

Any cause is incomplete without the support of its board and community members. Our board members are already committed to the cause with putting in countless hours organizing this event, finding beneficiaries, and searching for sponsors. We are now looking for community partners like YOU to assist in our fight to “Take A Swing At Women’s Cancer!”
5th Annual Charity Golf Scramble Announced!
The MLF Memorial Foundation is again hosting our annual charity golf scramble. Last year we were able to raise $20,000 in donations! We are looking to beat that number with your help this year!
Again, our proceeds will be going to the Macungie Ambulance Corps to support the Merissa L Frye First Responder Training Fund. We have also partnered with St. Luke's University Health Network to establish The Merissa L Frye Cancer Research and Compassion Fund that supports women's cancer research and will assist women with bills that are not covered by insurance. Funds will again be provided to the Emmaus High School IEP project.
At $110 a person for this scramble, this is a true bargain compared to other scrambles well above this price. Included in this you will get breakfast items, a catered lunch, beer and soda, and entry into course games and challenges. You also will be able to enjoy music from our DJ and speeches from our special guests.
There are also multiple sponsorship levels available from donation of baskets or swag items all the way up to being the overall sponsor with premium signage/banners and foursome entries in the scramble.
Please feel free to contact us with any questions about the event or the foundation.
I would hope you please join us again in Taking A Swing At Women's Cancer!
